Get Trained Yourself

Getting trained yourself is an important treatment option to consider whether you have access to the other treatment options or not.

Whether you are working with a local Certified MNRI resource, have attended an MNRI Educational Family Conference or an MNRI basic Assessment Clinic, the more you understand about the restorative MNRI techniques used with your child, the better able you will be to continue and effectively support MNRI work at home. For some parents training is the only viable option. Regardless of your background, the techniques are easily understood and most parents are able to master the basic steps necessary to use the MNRI program techniques with great success.

While the demonstration and hands-on practice provided in a formal MNRI course setting will deepen understanding of MNRI Technique application in the home setting, we understand that sometimes this option is simply not viable. For those unable to attend a course, we offer the option to purchase information materials at our online shop. You will find some wonderful tools that will enable you to immediately begin using certain movements and practices. Please know that these materials do not replace the value you would receive by attending a course or MNRI Event.

Manuals for all of our courses can only be obtained by attending the course.

Attend an MNRI Course

The following course sequence is recommended whether you are setting up a an MNRI home treatment program by yourself, working with a Certified MNRI Resource to support your treatment efforts, or attending an MNRI Educational Family Conference or Assessment Clinic. We have included additional information regarding home program support and a complete list of MNRI continuing education courses below the following course sequence recommendations.

Course 1 Recommendation: Dynamic & Postural Reflex Integration Course
Families interested in beginning an MNRI treatment program should begin by taking the MNRI Method Foundation Program course -- Dynamic and Postural Reflex integration. The Dynamic & Postural Reflex Integration course provides the foundation for families (and professionals) to understand the importance of primary motor reflex pattern maturation, why a reflex might not be integrated, the impact a non-integrated reflex can have, and the MNRI techniques designed to assess and integrate dysfunctional reflexes. This training provides the basic knowledge necessary to begin treatment at home. It is important to note that for MNRI students to attain higher levels of certification, they are required to complete the Dynamic and Postural Reflex Integration course a number of times. Similarly, while you will be provided with the knowledge necessary to begin treatment at home, we recommend that you repeat the course at some point to help to help deepen your knowledge and practical application of the course.

Course 2 Recommendation: Tactile Integration Course
Many parents go on to more courses as home program results motivate them to learn more. If you decide to learn about another MNRI program, we recommend taking the Tactile Integration Course because of its importance to the overall MNRI Program.. The underlying neurosensorimotor mechanism supports the function of each reflex. All MNRI reflex techniques help to isolate the body’s understanding of the appropriate sensory input and motor response output. The Tactile Integration course explores the physiology and psychology of the tactile system, the developmental effects of over- and under-sensitive receptors, and the importance of an appropriately integrated tactile system to the process of integrating all motor reflex movement and patterns. This additional knowledge can increase the productivity of home programs for children who have more general tactile system challenges.

Course 3 Recommendation: Archetype Movements Course
For parents deciding to take a third MNRI program course, we recommend taking the Archetype Movements Course, another Core Program course.  The basic science of reflexes indicates that less complex movements act as subordinate components of progressively more complex related reflexes. Archetype motor movements serve this subordinate role for primary motor reflex patterns. While this subordinate role is quite important in establishing basic motor stability in reflex patterns, archetype motor movements remain secondary to the MNRI Method’s focus on primary motor reflex patterns for two specific reasons:

  1. Dysfunctional (or pathological) primary motor reflex patterns help signal where in the body underlying neurosensorimotor dysfunction exists. Archetype or motor reflex movements are too general to accomplish this goal.
  2. Dr. Masgutova’s work over the past 20 years demonstrates that restoration techniques targeted at primary motor reflex patterns can affect more positive change in overall body function than addressing any of the other

Remaining Core Program Course Choices
For parents deciding to attend additional MNRI program courses, the choice should be based the underlying challenges that are more or less apparent in your child’s functional capabilities. For example, if your child is having delayed communication challenges, than the MNRI Facial Integration course might make sense. If your child has difficulty maintaining eye contact, or sounds seem to cause discomfort then the Visual & Auditory Reflex Integration course may make the most sense. For more information to help guide your program course decision, go to either Core MNRI Programs.

Advanced Subject Area Courses
Advanced MNRI program courses are generally attended by MNRI certified resources in the process of completing higher-level certification requirements. Parents who have decided to become formal MNRI students in pursuit of higher MNRI resource certification are welcome to attend this course once they have completed all requirements outlined as part of the MNRI certification process.

Additional Home Program Support
Whether you are creating a home treatment program on your own, working regularly with a certified MNRI resource, or have participated in an MNRI Educational Family Conference or Assessment Clinic, we encourage you to take advantage of available outside resources following to support and inform your MNRI home program efforts:

  1. Become a member of the parent sponsored, Masgutova Method-MNRI Google Group. Membership will allow you to network with other families (and certified MNRI resources) to read and share (if desired) useful considerations that could inform your home program efforts. While the Masgutova Method-MNRI Google Group is unable to address treatment specific questions due to HIPPA privacy considerations. (for information regarding health information go to the U.S. Department of Health website.
  2. If you have home program questions that cannot be addressed on the Masgutova Method-MNRI Google Group site (due to patient confidentiality), please feel free to email us at info@masgutovamethod.com.
  3. While participating in an MNRI course we encourage you to talk with the instructor and to network with other students in the course. Let them know that you plan to set up your own home treatment program. Many times, through this process, parents can uncover considerations that can make their home program efforts more productive. If you do uncover useful information or have determined some useful tip on your own, we encourage you to return to the MNRI website and share through our “Tell Us Your Story” link, so that others in your situation can benefit from your knowledge.
