MNRI®: Babkin Palmomental Reflex
The progress of the Babkin Palmomental Reflex creates the basis for the development of the “Palm-Mouth” coordination system. The Babkin Palmomental Reflex helps the formation of the sensory motor system complex. The reflex allows exploration of the midline and body sides. It also plays an important role in the development of eating reflexes, such as sucking, swallowing, biting and chewing. It also influences the facial expressions and the dynamics of the movements of the skull bones, especially the temporal, sphenoid, and TMJ. It prepares the infant for the posture of nursing.
