The Method

Our 7 month old son has been making great progress the past few months with his MNRI therapists Isabelle and Jennifer. He loves all the MNRI therapy he gets back home, especially in the water. We weren’t sure if coming to the family conference was necessary.  He would never tolerate tummy time, but he was voluntarily rolling onto his stomach and propping himself up for the first time after the second day of the conference. Thank you so much for coming up with this innovate type of therapy that is changing so many lives.

At the conference in the Netherlands we succeeded in doing cross lateral movements. At this conference, Arthur is figuring out that moving slow and by using less effort he can process better (Arthur is less impulsive and he gives himself time to think). And this morning we were introduced to a new way of thinking math and the motivation that came of that, was just magical! We will go home and practice..

He has made great progress with his rolling, crawling, STNR, and more over the past eight days. We have seen great changes. The most impactful for me as his mother is the fact that when I held him last night I felt him actually hang on. I am a parent of a child with an autism diagnosis. He also has a diagnosis of anxiety disorder, ADHD, and Fragile X. He is 16 years old and has made immeasurable gains with MNRI! I started by taking a few MNRI classes in 2008. I jumped at an opportunity for my son to attend a MNRI Conference 2009. Since then we have taken advantage of classes, Conferences, Mini Clinics and implemented the MNRI home program. Here’s our story:

We have been blessed with a beautiful son named George who is 16 yrs old and in 10th grade. George is playing football in high school. Regular ed! He played baritone in the band from 6th- 9th grade and practiced with his Grandpa who plays tuba. He participates in regular classes with a 1:1 support and modified materials. Academics have come slow but most important he continues to learn and make progress.

When George was young I tried everything traditional medical model including ot, pt, and speech. Progress was slow and he kept slipping further behind. I made sure George was educated in an integrated setting not the segregated se classroom. In elementary and middle school he was in the regular ed setting for a majority of the school day with a 1:1 support. When George started kindergarten he couldn't speak a complete sentence or sit for circle time. He has come so far! I can't get him to quit talking now and would never try!!! He has a cell phone and he calls family and friends daily. He probably talks to his Grandpa Steve the most. Sometimes they talk for hours a day.

George has made leaps and bounds of in the last 5 yrs. I attribute most of this progress to Masgutova Method and the incredible ability of Svetlana Masgutova to isolate the individual reflex patterns of the primary reflexes and develop specific integrations for each reflex to begin or further integrate reflexes. This is ‘key’ to learning and development. It is never too late to integrate with MNRI but sooner is better. I would give anything to be able to go back and have had this resource when George was 2 or 3 yrs. I am grateful we have here and now and are making the most of it!

 I love MNRI because they empower the parent. They offer classes and you get to hear it, see it, do it, and experience it. Then take home what you learned and use it with your child. I suggest MNRI Postural and Dynamic Reflexes class as a perfect place to start. Check out the website at www.masgutovamethod.com. Attend a MNRI family Conference when an opportunity presents. Find a MNRI Core Specialist in your area to provide services weekly, monthly or when possible have a Core Specialist travel to your location. If this is not an option then take and use what you learn from MNRI classes, Conferences and the additional training videos and materials available on the Masgutova website.

Since MNRI, George has made the most progress with social interactions. He gives and takes in conversation and understands information. He has decreased anxiety and has demonstrated good problem solving skills. His posture and how he carries himself is natural. There has been measurable progress with physical endurance and speed. We have been able to decrease his prescription medications to nothing. He had been taking medications for anxiety, hyperactivity, difficulty focusing and attending, getting stuck and impulsivity since he was 3. His doctor, who has been working with us since he was 18 months, supported us every step of the way. She said “Whatever you are doing keep doing it because it is working.”

I love Masgutova Method! We would never be where we are today without it!

We've been using the Masgutova Method on our 12 year old autistic son for 10 months now.  We've seen more improvements in our son's autistic symptoms during the past 10 months than we've seen in all of the years since his diagnosis almost 9 years ago.  He is more conversational and asks relevant questions, he's more aware, has better control of his emotions, he stims less, and goes to sleep easier.  We look forward to seeing even more gains through the months and years as we continue the Masgutova Method - working w/ Core Specialists and attending courses and conferences.  It's amazing how properly integrated reflexes can make such a difference in the functioning of kids on the spectrum.

The 4 MNRI conferences we have attended during the past two years have completely altered Benji's present and future. He is no longer defined by autism and he now moves comfortably in his own skin! His unusual talents and interesting quirks have remained a part of him while his discomfort with the world around him continues to lessen each day. 

From the moment we left the first conference, changes began to unfold.  On the way home, Benji asked whose idea the “stupid conference” was (at first he was so tactilely defensive that he viewed the techniques as an assault on his body.) That comment represented an enormous change…previously, Benji only spoke about schedules and directions.  Suddenly, he could evaluate and discuss his feelings.  From there, the changes continued to amaze us.  His nervous system has now calmed down enough to be present in the world, evaluate situations, understand people and even fight with his sister!  He is poised, graceful and self-confident. He is thriving in a mainstream classroom and has more self-awareness than many adults we know.  Thank you, Dr. Masgutova and your team for enabling so many amazing changes in such a sort amount of time!

I have been working as a SLP for the last 15 years. Until I was introduced to MNRI, I had only heard of reflexes in passing and never really understood anything about their importance in growth and development. 

What I can say without a doubt is that MNRI completely transformed my practice and the way I see everyone who walks through my door. Dr. Masgutova has created an amazing program to benefit children and adults with a wide variety of needs. Her program is ever evolving to best meet the needs of the people that she and members of the MNRI community are serving. 

Dr. Masgutova and her work has successfully treated my chronic asthma. My father had a major accident 18 months ago and after one session with her he had more mobility and less pain than after three months of other therapy. It is also because of her work that my son no longer had to be embarrassed at friends' houses because of chronic bed wetting. I am ever grateful for this work and what it has done for people around the world. 

After attending the Aug 2008 camp, we feel that we finally have the keys to unlock our son's potential.  Dr. Mastgutova's method is brilliant, revealing the natural, fundamental patterns of the body to integrate the nervous system.  The team of therapists were consistently exceptional, each devoting his or her time, talents and unique gifts to the specific needs of our family.

My daughter's gross motor skills , her confidence, her speech , her eyesight and , most important , her joy  in life all increased significantly. This was the opportunity of a lifetime to be here at this camp. I've been looking for 14 years for something to help my child. The camp is such an opportunity for any parent who has a child with special needs. The most valuable part of this experience was learning how to do the therapy myself, and be able to continue this program at home.

I am an OT using Svetlana's work with children and found this work very helpful in many ways - I have seen changes with learning, ability to focus, decreased anger and aggression, better sleep and bowel patterns, better regulation and increased organization.  I no longer use brushing techniques for hypersensitivity. Instead, I use the Masgutova Tactile Integration Techniques.

Our daughter suffered a stroke at birth and we were given little hope or suggestions on how to help her optimize her physical development.  After the camp we are happy to say that our 2 year old is walking/running around for the first time in her life!  She learned to walk in this short amount of time and we fully credit the team of Dr. Svetlana for this amazing change.

My daughter Kayla was adopted from the foster care system. When she came into our home at 13 months, she could not even turn over, her ribcage was very high and squished together, she hated to be touched, and she could not eat. Some people called her a vegetable.

Her physical therapist, Diana, is always improving herself and taking workshops, classes and courses (at her own expense). She arrived at our home one day so excited about something new she had learned: the Masgutova method of reflex integration, which she believed would "change the world."

Not long after beginning the exercises, Kayla became able to turn over on her stomach, crawl and began to be more affectionate. With each workshop Diana took, each new exercise would produce huge leaps in Kayla's physical and emotional state.

In the brief period of two years, Kayla went from a "vegetable" to an active, friendly, walking, talking "normal" little girl. She is still very petite and slightly delayed physically, but we trust that the delays will not last much longer.

I cannot recommend the Masgutova Method enough.
